Course Description:

Accredited by the Wound, Ostomy, and Continence Nurses Society since 1976, the WOC Nursing Education Program prepares the graduate nurse to provide specialty care for patients with fecal and urinary incontinence. This course is geared towards the nurse who has at least 1,500 clinical hours in the Continence specialty, and is looking to obtain WOCNB certification following the Experiential Pathway. The Experiential Pathway allows RN's with direct patient clinical hours in a specialty to expedite the certification process.  

Upon successful completion of this course, students will be awarded 40 of the 50 contact hours necessary to apply for WOCNCB Continence certification via the Experiential Pathway.

    • Stress
    • Urge/OAB

    • Voiding dysfunction (retention)

    • Neurogenic bladder
    • Nocturnal enuresis
    • Fecal
  • Management of incontinence
    • Diet and fluid management
    • Behavioral therapy (bladder retraining/toileting programs)
    • Absorptive and containment products
    • Clean intermittent catheterization
    • Pelvic floor muscle rehabilitation
    • Surgical procedures

Requirements for Course Completion

  • Read the Core Content (hard copy or electronic version)
  • Watch the Video Lessons
  • Complete the Learning Exercises (not submitted nor graded)
  • Pass the Continence Exam (two attempts to score 80%)
  • It should take approximately 40 hours to complete this course.

Emory Nursing Professional Development Center (ENPDC) is accredited as a provider of continuing nursing education by the American Nurses Credentialing Center's Commission on Accreditation. Attendees to this CNE activity will be awarded  40 Continuing Nursing Education contact hours (2.5 Pharmacotherapeutic contact hours) by ENPDC.
