Course Description:
Accredited by the Wound, Ostomy, and Continence Nurses Society since 1976, the WOC Nursing Education Program prepares the graduate nurse to provide specialty care for patients with foot and nail pathology. This program is geared towards the nurse looking to obtain WOCNCB Foot Care certification. It is also for  the LPN/LVN, PT, or DPT looking to sit for the Certified Foot Care Specialist (CFCS) Exam through the American Foot Care Nurses Association. 

This Foot and Nail course covers the topics below and after completion will give you required contact hours necessary for Foot Care certification: 
- overview of skin; skin care strategies
- pressure redistribution concerns
- structures and function of the foot and nail
- common pathologic conditions affecting the foot and nail
- comprehensive assessment of the foot and nail (sensorimotor, vascular, skin and soft tissue, nails, and footwear)
- impact of diabetes on the lower limb and implications for clinical management
- preventive foot and nail care education
- management of common problems (thickened nails, ingrown nails, corns, and calluses)
